Consumer Health Data Notice
Last Updated: October 17, 2026
The short version:
- Allergies, intolerances and diets you tell Gusteau can count as health data.
- We collect them only when you tell us, and use them only to cook for you.
- They go only to the providers that help answer you, and to your family if you join one.
- We never sell them or use them for ads.
- You can see, change or delete them any time, and appeal if we say no.
Why This Page Exists
Some laws, such as Washington's My Health My Data Act and Nevada's consumer health data law, treat information that could say something about your health as "consumer health data", and ask for a notice just about it. Food can say a lot about health, so this page covers what Gusteau keeps of that kind. It goes with our Privacy Policy, which covers everything else, and it applies wherever you live. Gusteau is made and run by Wyzie LLC.
What We Collect
Only what you choose to tell Gusteau, or show him in a photo:
- allergies and intolerances, such as nuts, gluten or lactose;
- diets, including ones you follow for medical, religious or personal reasons, such as low sodium, diabetic-friendly, vegetarian, halal or kosher;
- food goals and notes, such as eating less sugar or more protein, kept in What Gusteau Knows;
- what a photo you send shows, such as medicine or special foods in a fridge photo, only for the request you sent it with (it is deleted within a day).
We don't collect your medical records, diagnoses, prescriptions, body measurements, location history or anything from health devices or apps. The nutrition estimates Gusteau gives are about recipes, not about you.
How We Use It
Only to give you what you asked for: to leave things out of your recipes, plans and shopping lists, to warn you in a recipe's notes when something may not fit, and to suit Gusteau's suggestions to you. We don't use it for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't use it to train AI models.
Where It Comes From
From you: what you type or say to Gusteau, what you set in your settings and What Gusteau Knows, and photos you send. We don't buy it or get it from anyone else.
Who Receives It
- xAI, our AI provider, receives the parts a request needs (for example, "no peanuts") so Gusteau can answer you. It processes them for us and, under its terms, doesn't train on them.
- Cloudflare, which hosts Gusteau and stores your account, keeps it for us.
- Your family, if you join a family plan: everyone in the family sees the diet in your settings, so shared meals suit everyone. This happens only because you joined.
- Our support mailbox (Purelymail), only if you write about it to us yourself.
- Authorities, only if the law requires it.
We have no affiliates that receive it, and we never sell it.
Your Rights
- See it: it's in your settings and What Gusteau Knows, and Download My Data on your Dashboard gives you all of it in one file. Who receives it is listed above.
- Change or delete it: edit or remove it there at any time, or delete your account from your Dashboard to delete everything. Deleting it also stops it being sent to xAI for new requests.
- Take back your permission: remove it from your settings, or write to us and we'll stop using it.
- Ask us: write to [email protected] from the email on your account, or call 315-898-1257, 1 PM to 7 PM Eastern. We answer within 30 days (45 at most, and we'll tell you if we need longer).
- Appeal: if we turn a request down, reply to say you appeal and we'll look again and answer within 45 days. If you're still unhappy, you can contact your state's attorney general (in Washington, at atg.wa.gov).
We won't treat you differently for using any of these rights.
How Long We Keep It
While you have an account, so Gusteau keeps cooking the way you need. It is deleted when you delete it or your account, or after two years without signing in (with a warning first), as the Privacy Policy says.
Changes
If we ever want to use or share consumer health data in a new way, we'll update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
